Dr. Murunwa Makwarela has been reinstated as the Mayor of Tshwane and will resume his duties with immediate effect.
Dr Murunwa Makwarela has been reinstated as the Mayor of the City of Tswana with immediate effect.
This follows his submission of a certificate of rehabilitation in response to claims that he was an unrehabilitated insolvent.
Dr Makwarela was elected to the position of executive mayor of the City of Tshwane last Tuesday. 28 February 2023.

City Manager Johann Mettler has withdrawn the notice of vacancy.
Makwarela has said that he is very happy that this matter has been put to bed.
