The Special Investigating Unit (SIU) said the auctioning of actress Terry Pheto’s National Lottery funded house will continue after an unsuccessful bid day.
Pheto’s R5 million Bryanston 3-bedroom home failed to secure any bids on Thursday, 02 March when the SIU put the house up for auction.
This after the SIU found the house had been paid for with money which was siphoned from the National Lottery Commission (NLC).
Despite there being a number of registrations for the online bidding, there were no takers on Pheto’s home.
Speaking to Newzroom Afrika, SIU spokesperson Kaizer Kganyago said they had high expectations that the home would be snatched up within minutes, but this was not the case.
“It’s probably due to you guys, the media that the house didn’t sell. There was a lot of hype about the house. But it doesn’t matter as we will continue with the auctioning of the house until it’s sold.
All we want is the money back so we can put that money back into the National Lottery Commission fund, in order for it to be used for what it was intended for.”

While the Tsotsi actress denied that her home was bought with National Lottery funds, it was found that payment for Pheto’s home came from a third-party firm which received the money.
