After being kicked off a cruise due to public backlash over his openly racist views, the question is whether Orania has room for Steve Hofmeyer?
The Afrikaans singer, songwriter, actor and former TV presenter was set to perform at the Kappityt Festival aboard the MSC Sinfonia.
This after the cruise liner made the decision to remove the controversial singer from the lineup and replace him.
Hofmeyer took to his social media to take a stab at MSC by saying he’ll never set foot on board one of their ships again.
“MSC Cruises had to choose between their left-wing activist in Amsterdam and thousands of people – you who had booked a ticket, and people like me who’ve filled their ships for 10 years. They chose the woke snowflake.”

His racist stance had Sizwe Dhlomo wondering whether there’s space for Hofmeyer in Orania, and whether there’s hope for rehabilitation for racists back into society.
Orania is a strictly “white, Afrikaaner only” town nestled in the Karoo, with a population of approximately 2 500 residents.
While its residents claim they are not racist, the fact is that the town and its people live a life that was moulded by apartheid, one in which the black man is not allowed.
In 2014, Steve Hofmeyer revealed a heavily racist side when he blamed black people for apartheid.
“Sorry to offend but in my books, Blacks were the architects of Apartheid. Go figure.”

Since then, Hofmeyer has lost lucrative business deals and sponsorships, with the likes of MTN, DStv and Toyota all cutting ties with the singer.
