Mamelodi Sundowns U15s will compete in The Kevin De Bruyne’s Cup.
The KDB Cup is an under-15s tournament inspired by Manchester City midfielder Kevin De Bryune – it was founded in 2016.
The main purpose of the tournament is to allow young footballers to showcase their talents on a larger scale.
Some of the talents scouted in the Kevin De Bruyne Cup went on to play for Europe’s elite teams such as Barcelona and Benfica.
Mamelodi Sundowns’ U15s will be participating in this year’s tournament.
Mamelodi Sundowns Chairman, Tlhopie Motsepe says it’s important to develop the country’s youth.
“This part of Mamelodi Sundowns is a strategy to develop our academy and to develop South African football and invest in the youth starts 10 years before you start seeing the fruits of your labours.”
Dominion Ased, Mamelodi Sundowns academy player describes this as an opportunity of a lifetime.
“I never thought that it was something that would happen in my life and it’s a great opportunity for me and my teammates.”
