Disgruntled Uyajola 9/9 presenter, Jub Jub plans to sue Moja Love for withholding his January salary over an alleged gender-based violation.
The channel accuses Jub Jub of hurling expletives at a female business partner and insulting her mother’s private parts.
As punishment for allegedly violating Moja Love’s anti-gender-based violence policy, the channel took a stern stance and did not pay the presenter for the month of January.
The incident between Jub Jub and Keabetswe Mokoena is said to have occurred in December.
Mokoena and Jub Jub were co-organisers of the Moses Kotane Arts Festival which took place in the North West.
It has been reported that the two were involved in a heated discussion which resulted in Jub Jub allegedly spewing profanities at Mokoena.
According to the Sunday World, Moja Love CEO Aubrey Tau felt the channel needed to “make an example” of Jub Jub to serve as a deterrent to other would-be gender-based transgressors within the company.
But Jub Jub has lawyered up and issued Moja Love a letter of demand for his salary to be paid in full by Friday, or face further legal proceedings.
Jub Jub’s lawyers argue that withholding their client’s salary did not only financially prejudice him but was also unconstitutional and a breach of the employment contract he has in place.
“We have taken instructions from our client to institute legal proceedings against yourself (CEO) personally for abuse and ill-treatment and the broadcaster for breach of contract, unfair labour practice and all other related matters he suffered.
A business of this magnitude cannot run as a spaza shop, it’s unprofessional, unethical and completely abhorrent.”
While Jub Jub and his legal team have made it clear they are prepared to take the channel to court urgently and seek a punitive cost order, the channel may be considering terminating the controversial presenter’s contract.
As per the publication, Moja Love’s CEO is considering parting ways with Jub Jub, whose contract comes to an end next month.
