Ghanaian footballer, Christian Atsu is still missing after the Turkiye earthquake.
Despite reports earlier in the week that Atsu was successfully rescued from the 9th floor of a building, but 11-days later and the former Newcastle United player has still not been found.
On Tuesday, 14 February, the Ghana Football Association and Turkish government said he was found in a stable condition and being treated at a local hospital.
But on Friday, 17 February, Atsu’s agent, Nana Sechere, squashed this, saying the 31-year old is still missing.
“We still have not located Christian.
I am at the quake site in Hatay with Christian’s family. The scenes are unimaginable and our hearts are broken for all the people affected.
During my time here we have been able to locate Christian’s exact room location, and we have found two pairs of his shoes.
Yesterday we received confirmation that thermal imagery was showing signs of up to 5-years.
However, I’m told that the only real confirmation of life is through sight, smell and sound, and unfortunately we were not able to locate Christian Atsu.”
Atsu played for English Football Clubs, Everton, Bournemouth and Newcastle United while on Chelsea’s roster before joining Hatayspor in Turkey in September of last year.
