More and more farmers are reporting losses in food production on social media, with the most recent case being of a dairy farmer in KZN who lost 12,000 litres of milk due to load shedding.
Alan Stratford tweeted that there was no electricity, which caused the milk to spoil.
He blamed Eskom for his misfortune, while he discarded thousands of litres of milk.
Times Live reports that although he claimed that his dairy had backup power, he added that “nothing works” when “all your controls get burned by the power supply.”
Videos of him discarding the sour milk have angered many on social media who are also infuriated by the ongoing power disruption.

A week ago, a poultry farmer in the North West claims he intends to sue Eskom for R1.5 million after an estimated 40 000 to 50 000 of his flock perished due to power outages at his farm.
When we start paying R300 plus for a chicken, at least we will know why.
