City Power in Johannesburg has started a three-day revenue collection drive in Alexandra to recover R363m.
In order to recover R363 million, City Power in Johannesburg started a three-day revenue collection drive on Tuesday.
The electrical provider has intentions to disconnect Region E, Alexandra, and company accounts that are in default.
A notice from the City states that the organization will “take a tough line on defaulting prominent business accounts and cut off the power supply on businesses that refuse to pay for services”.

Point on View with Phemelo Motene spoke to Isaac Mangena, City Power Spokesperson about what the City of Johannesburg’s way forward will be.

According to News24, Dada Morero, the regional ANC chair, claimed the City was in danger of going bankrupt.
Until a court overruled a prior motion of no confidence in Phalatse, Morero presided as mayor for 25 days.
In September, he claimed that the City’s budget was R3 billion short and that the collection rate had fallen to less than 80%.
