In 2022 the South African government proposed tighter tobacco regulations.
In its efforts to deter people from smoking, the Department of health has tabled the Tobacco Products and Electronic Delivery Systems Control Bill.
The Bill determines the difference between traditional tobacco products; cigarettes and nicotine delivery systems and devices like vapes.
The health department and bill tabled, doesn’t differentiate between cigarette smokers and vape smokers. This means that both will be prohibited from smoking in any public spaces.
One of the main reasons why this Bill has been proposed is due to the extreme health risks it poses to smokers and non smokers.
However despite this, many people still continue to smoke cigarettes and vape devices.
In a recent article by the face, new data revealed that the contents of a vape is not as healthy as it seems.
A few months ago, someone in Hampshire, England decided to get their weed vape juice tested in a lab, after making them feel agitated and nauseous.
The results, published by the Welsh government-funded testing service Wedinos, indicated that the vape liquid in question contained two nitazenes, synthetic opioids; a benzodiazepine; a gabapentinoid and nicotine.
All these substances, except the nicotine are central nervous system depressants that used to treat insomnia, anxiety, panic attacks, and seizures.
In September 2022, another person in Suffolk, England sent their THC (weed) vape juice in for analysis and found out that it contained 6‑MAM, morphine, noscapine, paracetamol, 6‑acetylcodeine, caffeine and codeine.
Vapes may seem cool, but the reality of the matter is that it is extremely dangerous and may even cause death, especially because some contents are illegal and addictive.
This could kill you. We need regulation now. https://t.co/5qOU0bddjW
