Carl Niehaus has been kicked out of the ANC for misconduct and bringing the party into disrepute.
The now former member of the ruling party had also landed himself in hot water for his stance and support in favour of former President Jacob Zuma.
After spending much of his life (43-years) serving as a member of the ANC, Sizwe Dhlomo had a discussion about dedicating time and commitment to something, only for it to backfire in the end.
Niehaus, who had recently paid lobola for his new bride, served time in prison after being convicted of treason against the apartheid government.
The author and former spokesman for the ANC, was sentenced to 15-years in prison in 1983, but was released in 1991.
Last year Niehaus was suspended for making statements about the ANC’s inability to pay staff salaries.
He was then dismissed as a Luthuli House employee and has now been expelled from the ruling party for six counts of misconduct.
Niehaus has described the decision to expel him as ridiculous.
“I reject this expulsion from the ANC with the contempt that it deserves. I’ve been a member of the African National Congress for 43 years, I’ve dedicated my life to the liberation struggle and to the African National Congress,” Niehaus said.
While Niehaus is expected to appeal his expulsion from the ANC, Sizwe asked whether he should take a step back and question if it was time to move on and pursue other ambitions?
