The bodies of two women, believed to be 20 and 25-years old were found in a Roodepoort veld this week.
Both women were found with their hands bound together in Matholesville.
According to police, the victims have not been identified and no one has come forward to claim or identify the bodies.
Police made the grisly discovery on Monday, 05 December after a member of the public reported finding the women’s bodies, while walking past the veld.
It is suspected both women were killed elsewhere and their bodies moved thereafter.
SAPS Communications Officer, Lieutenant-Colonel Mavela Masondo said, “the two unknown women were aged 20 to 25 years old, and one was dressed in a pink skirt, black crop top, and black All Star tekkies, while the other was dressed in a black velvet dress and black sneakers.”
Details of whether the women were raped or sexually assaulted have not been released and a cause of death was not revealed.
However, police say that photos of the victims were shared to social media and have called on the public to remove them from platforms immediately.
Police say an investigation is underway.
