There’s no better time than at present to be on the lookout for better prospects on the job market. With the country at an alert level 1, this could open up many industries and businesses to hire as the economy picks up.
Job hunting can be a stressful time, especially if you’ve been unemployed for a long time. It’s easy to get sucked into the mindset of “anything will do for now.” It’s because you’re desperate, and you’d settle for something, anything in a temporary capacity.
As you search for a job, it’s essential to keep in mind that you aren’t just looking for a company’s salary. You have value as an employee, and you can contribute meaningfully to a company and its culture.
Know your strengths and weaknesses, as well as what you hope to gain from the job, and keep those things in mind as you read job listings and research potential places to work. Also, be alert of red flags. They don’t necessarily mean that you need to avoid a company, but they can provide you with a reason to look a little closer and see if the position and environment really would be a good fit for you.
