Mzekezeke is a Kwaito artist who enjoyed great success in the mid 2000s with hits such as Guqangama Dolo and Ubani uMzekezeke.
It is widely believed that the man behind the mask is DJ Sbu.
Speaking to Penuel on his podcast, DJ Sbu denied being Mzekezeke.
“No, I’m not Mzekezekee. I haven’t spoken to him in quite some time now. The guy is doing well. He is doing taxis and every time we speak about the music he hasn’t really shown much of an interest.”
He says recently Mzekezeke has been flirting with the idea of getting back into music.
“But lately because of that and some other posts that we’ve been putting up, there’s just been interesting conversation around music. The last time we spoke was about music.”

In an interview on The Penuel Show, Sbu opened up about how “keeping up with appearances” cost him severely.
“I’ve lived that lifestyle, rolling in Porsches, travelling. I’ve driven all these luxury sports cars, had that life, throwing parties, going out and dropping money. You know the celebrity life. Back then I was proud about it, but now looking back I realise that I was dumb.
When it comes to finances, I’ve fallen and I’ve got myself to blame, no one else.”
