Advocated Dali Mpofu has announced his withdrawal from representing Mkhwebane at the Section 194 enquiry.
In the Section 194 committee investigation against Public Protector Busisiwe Mkhwebane’s eligibility to serve, attorney Dali Mpofu has withdrawn from the case.
He retracted his statement after Section 194 committee chair Qubudile Dyantyi on Thursday rejected Mkhwebane’s request for a postponement.
Julius Malema, the leader of the EFF, declared that his party would also leave if the investigation continued as usual.
According to Dyantyi, the request for an adjournment should not be approved.
He claimed that the committee had lost momentum as a result of too many stops and starts.

He called Mkhwebane’s claim that the rejection of the adjournment application was solely motivated by retaliation “unfortunate and unjustified.”
After the refusal, Mpofu asserted that the probe had become illegal and that any future involvement would amount to support for the illegitimate committee.
“In appropriate circumstances … an authority should halt its actions when it is aware review proceedings are to be instituted against it. Failure to do so may render the official concerned liable for contempt of court.” said Mpofu.
