Minister Fikile Mbalula claims that about 86 officials have been detained for their involvement in the issuing of fraudulent documentation.
He says there are Vehicle Testing examiners, Natis officers, DLTC officials, as well as SAPS members.
He claims that a recent arrest cost the state R60 million and implicated six officials.

• On July 2022, six (6) officials were arrested for ten thousand (10,000) illicit transactions, which costed the state a combined loss of sixty million rand (R60m).

According to the Department, stronger regulations will be put in place for the issuance of driver’s licenses.
This attempts to create skilled drivers and remove any opportunity to game the system.
