A 47-year old Limpopo woman was allegedly kidnapped and killed after a R5 000 ransom demand was not paid.
Police arrested one of the suspects who had reportedly used the woman’s phone to make the ransom demand on Saturday, 22 October.
The 29-year old suspect was arrested just outside Polokwane, in Greenside and will appear in the Tshitale Magistrates Court in Limpopo on Monday, 24 October.
According to police, the woman was kidnapped on 15 September and her body was discovered in her home in Masethe village, Thohoyandou, Limpopo on 09 October.
Police say the deceased’s brother received a call from her cellphone on 15 September from a male demanding R5000 for his sister’s release.
The brother immediately reported the matter to the police who opened a case of kidnapping.
A provincial organised crime unit then took over the case for further investigation.
The woman’s body was discovered in a bad state of decomposition and has been identified as Nkhangweleni Mavis Musesi.
