The South African Policing Union (SAPU) has condemned the latest cop killing incident in Boksburg which claimed the lives of 2 SAPS members.
A sergeant and constable were reportedly ambushed whilst attending to a complaint and waiting for a mortuary van on Thursday evening, 13 October.
Both policemen were disarmed of their weapons and bulletproof vests before they were brutally wounded.
A manhunt is now underway to find the three suspects responsible for the officers’ deaths.
In a statement, SAPU called on SAPS officers to fight back, saying they are angry at how criminals continue to kill their men and women in blue.
“The continued merciless killings of the men and women in blue calls for nothing else but an adequate response from the authorities, as we previously called for tough action against police killings to no avail.
SAPU says its now time for police officers to fight fire with fire and we are calling on our members to treat crime scenes as war zones and be battle ready for any eventuality.”
According to SAPU, President Ramaphosa said cop killings will be treated as treason, but there has been no action to support the notions of the President at the Police Commemoration.
SAPS said the sergeant served 18-years of service whilst the Constable was in his third year with the force.
