Actress Letoya Makhene and her wife are outraged that the gender-based violence (GBV) case against Letoya’s ex-boyfriend was withdrawn.
According to a Sunday World report, the actress and her wife, Lebo Keswa opened a case of assault against Letoya’s ex and baby daddy after an altercation over their child.
Tshepo Leeuw was accused of assaulting his ex-girlfriend by slapping her across her face and punching Lebo several times.
There was also damage to both women’s cellphones and Lebo claims she sustained injuries to her body and mouth.
The altercation is said to have occurred in June this year when the couple’s driver, Lawrence Maake went to fetch Lebo’s child from Tshepo’s house in Gelnvista, south of Johannesburg.
Letoya and her wife say Tshepo put the child in the car and gave the driver a bag with groceries.
The driver had reportedly refused to take the bag of groceries and was allegedly assaulted by Tshepo.
Both women then drove to Tshepo’s house dropping off the bag of groceries on his driveway, which seemed to have angered Tshepo.
Lebo claims he began assaulting her while his family members watched on.
The women opened a case of assault against Tshepo who then filed a counter charge of assault against Lebo claiming she assaulted him.
Now they say they are outraged that the case was withdrawn from the Mondeor Police Station without their knowledge or consent.
Lebo says she received a message from the police informing her the case was withdrawn because the investigating officer was unable to reach her.
The text read, “Case has been withdrawn in court on 28 September 2022, court witnesses/complainant cannot be traced.”
Lebo says she will be following up with the police regarding the matter.
