Barely a month after a mining dam in Jagersfontein collapsed, causing a flood and resulting in one death, another dam wall has collapsed on Tuesday, 27 September.
The latest dam wall collapse is reportedly a result of the heavy rains the Free State mining town has endured over the past two days.
Kopanong Mayor, Xolani Tseletsele said while the heavy flow of water has stopped, the incident has brought back panic within the community.
Tseletsele said the mining bosses would be sharing more details in due course.
On 11 September, Jagersfontein was submerged following mudslides after a mining dam burst its banks.
The areas affected by the recent dam wall collapse include Charlesville and Dennis Louw farm.
There have been no reports of any casualties or injuries.
