UCT Professor, Pierre de Vos who is implicated in sharing child pornography claims his Twitter account was hacked.
The Constitutional law expert may now be facing criminal charges by Afriforum for a tweet that was shared to de Vos’ account on 11 September.
Deleting the tweet, de Vos issued a statement claiming that his Twitter account was hacked.
“Last week, my Twitter account was hacked and tweeted porn. I deleted the tweets and changed my password. But Afriforum Youth now says it will lodge a criminal complaint against me. Not surprising given the criticism I levelled against their hate speech case against Mr Malema.”

Pierre de Vos doesn’t seem to understand the gravity of the situation however, a point which was raised by a Twitter user, because not only was it porn but child pornography.
The video in question showed an adult man sexually violating a minor boy.
According to Afriforum Youth the original post came from de Vos’ account on 09 December 2021 and was then retweeted on 11 September.
“The fact that the original post was made on 9 December 2021 indicates that De Vos must have searched for this type of content before he made the mistake of sharing it to his profile. We cannot allow this incident to go unnoticed and set the precedent that it is acceptable.”
Afriforum Youth spokesperson, René van der Vyver said that for a Professor of a reputable university to be implicated in child pornography was shocking.
“Any person who is guilty of such a misdeed, should not be in a position to mentor young people. UCT should act strongly against such shameful behaviour by one of its representatives.”
