Slikour says the reason he quit rap was because he realised he wasn’t as hungry as AKA was to make it in the industry.
In an interview with Zingah, the former hip-hop artist says despite giving the best 10-years of his music career to SA rap, he didn’t want to continue on.
Revealing that AKA was the reason that he quit, Siyabonga Metane, better known as Slikour said he couldn’t see himself being second best at anything.
“I knew I needed to stop rapping when I was around a session with AKA and he was just starting.
It was early 2010/11 and I saw him growing and I was like yo, this guys is so hungry for this. I was like if this guy is so hungry for this, I can’t allow myself to walk in and be second.
That’s when I lost interest, because I wasn’t as hungry as him.”
