Kaya News senior reporter, Tunicia Jegels updates Kaya Breakfast on the court appearance of Vorster Netshiongolo (37), one of the three officers implicated in the murder of Nathaniel Julies (16), a child from Eldorado.
Julies was shot dead in August, mere metres away from his home. The murder promoted an outcry and protests in the local community, which the whole country joined with calls for #JusticeForNathaniel.
Netshiongolo is charged with defeating the ends of justice, accessory to murder after the fact and possession of prohibited ammunition. He previously appeared in the Protea Magistrate’s Court and expected to hear the outcome of for his bail application on Monday.
The magistrate was not ready to give his verdict in the bail application, citing transcription issues. Netshiongolo appeared with co-accused, Caylene Whiteboy who’s facing charges of murder and defeating the ends of justice. Whiteboy and a third co-accused, Simon Ndyalvane, also facing charges of murder and defeating the ends of justice, were already denied bail.
