Dr Malinga breaks his silence on reports that DJ Black Coffee handed him R500k following his plea to fellow musicians to help him save his home.
Speaking to Mac G’s podcast last week, Dr Malinga revealed that the taxman auctioned some of his valuable possessions as he has defaulted on his tax payments.
Although he’s paid more than half of what he owes to SARS, Malinga has struggled to keep up with payments following the Covid-19 pandemic as he is not getting booked as often
“You know in music, you rely on being booked and there was Covid,” he told Mac G.
Following the interview, many artists including Makhadzi and Black Coffee have reached out to Dr Malinga.
After taking to social media to thank Black Coffee for his help, some reports suggested that the Grammy-award-winning producer gave Malinga half a million.
Addressing this in detail this morning, the Via Orlando hitmaker says the rumours are false.
“He gave me R20k not R500k, thanks bye,” Malinga told his followers.
