Internationally-renowned South African singer/songwriter Moonchild Sanelly joined 959 Breakfast with Dineo Ranaka and Sol Phenduka this week.
Moonchild Sanelly opened up about her three children whom she’s kept away from the public eye. The hitmaker says the decision “wasn’t intentional”, her focus has been on promoting her music.
“I am very intentional about things, for instance, the only time you knew I had a partner was on my reality show. Either than that, you won’t know about my partners or anybody that I date.”
She says her twins are very different.
“My twins are very different. You have ‘miss organised’ and you have ‘miss pantsula’. But in class, they perform pretty much the same.
“They have different personalities – they are split me.”
Speaking about her 13-year-old, she says they chat about everything.
“It’s so crazy because my 13-year-old told me she needs a rebound because her crush didn’t respond. She is not sexually active, we talk about sex”
Moonchild advises parents to operate from a place of ‘looking out for the kids.’
“If they can’t run to you about how they are feeling, how are they going to run to you when they are being bullied?
“So, you want to create an environment that protects your kids, period, then you create a room where they know they are allowed to speak.”

Speaking about her sexuality, the musician says she’s not heterosexual but more fluid.
“I dated a woman for a year and a half. Before that, I used to play with women and I never thought that I’d date one,” shared Moonchild Sanelly.
