Being a single parent is not child’s play and approaching it with a winning mentality goes a long way.
Single parents will face many particular difficulties, but with the appropriate attitude and a strong support system, they can easily raise happy, healthy children.
Single parents face a number of ongoing challenges, some of which are as follows: negotiating visitation and custody, solving financial problems, medical and child care location of more role models for your child, assisting kids to cope with loss as well as assisting kids in navigating parental conflict.

Point of View with Phemelo Motene spoke to a parent coach, Ayanda Tyetyana who shared more on how to navigate the journey as a single parent.
On shocking stats of kids who grow up without fathers.
“About 70% of South African children do not have close relationships or live with their fathers, that was on stat I saw which has stuck with me, it was a shocker.”
“The responsibility and the weight of raising children, the maturity that it requires for both parties to be present and to put the child’s needs, regardless of whatever has happened in terms of our relationship we should be able to do that,” said Tyetyana.
On kids growing up in single-parent households
“Every child gets to hear other kids speak about their moms and daddies, and this is what any child experiences, you can even think of yourself as a child hearing other kids speak about things that you didn’t have and wondering why I don’t have that.
“The other major thing is the financial burden of not having as much as you need in terms of financial resources… this has a ripple effect on the children.”
