Aaron Pule Mohanwe, a former district court control prosecutor, was given a 10-year prison term in Mpumalanga by the Standerton Magistrate’s Court for receiving bribes.
Mohanwe, who was known for ‘making cases disappear’ was handed two counts of corruption and subverting the course of justice.
The 35-year-old prosecutor was accused of removing evidence and taking money in exchange for removing drug-related charges.
He accepted the bribes in both instances when undercover officers set up sting operations.
The agents operated in line with Section 252A of the Criminal Procedure Act which empowers law enforcement officers to engage in undercover operations to investigate criminal activities.
