On Monday morning, 15 August 2022, South Africa lost one of its Kwaito legends in Tokollo ‘Magesh’ Tshabalala.
According to a statement released by representatives of his family, Tokollo passed away as a result of an epileptic seizure.
Tokollo was part of TKZee, a South African Kwaito group formed in the 1990s by three school friends; Tokollo Tshabalala, Kabelo Mabalane and Zwai Bala.
The trio rose to prominence in the late 1990s with chart-topping singles Phalafala and Shibobo.
The nation at large has taken to social media to pay its respects to the fallen musician.
Khuli Chana, who featured Magesh in his single Hape le Hape 2.0 says his last conversation with Magesh was a heartwarming one. “Our last conversation was heartwarming. Collaborating with you was one of my wildest dreams.”
