There are mounting calls for a cop wife who allegedly dragged her husband by his privates until he bled to be arrested.
The female police officer from Durban, KwaZulu-Natal is accused of abusing her husband for 6-years.
According to an interview on a radio station, the husband said that he and his wife had been sleeping in separate rooms for 3-years.
The couple have a child with special needs and he’s concerned that the excessive abuse he is being subjected to will affect their child.
Having been married for 12-years, the husband detailed that there were a number of occasions his wife hit him on the head with her firearm, causing him to bleed.
After his latest abuse at her hands, the husband had decided to seek help as he had been dragged by his privates until he started bleeding and was swollen.
MEC for the Department of Social Development for KZN, Nonhlanhla Khoza has condemned the police officer’s actions.
“We agree that we have a lot of cases of gender-based violence directed to women and children. However, we cannot deny that men also suffer abuse from their female partners. Therefore, it is important that we expose all these cases of gender-based violence.
It just doesn’t make sense that this police woman allegedly abused her husband and believed that she could not face the law. Although police officers are entrusted with the law, they are not above the law in this country.
“Since this man came forward to detail the abuse he had suffered for years at the hands of his wife, we want to see the law take its course. The claim that this man has been suffering beatings for some time calls for a proper investigation.”

The husband has reportedly filed for a protection order while the investigation continues.
