In April this year, the family of singer/songwriter Lira revealed that she suffered a stroke in Germany where she was booked to perform and as a result, her ability to communicate was impacted.
Since then Lira has been undergoing treatment here in South Africa, “led by the best medical team available.”
In her recent health update on social media, the singer shared a rehearsal video with Mzansi Youth Choir. She says “speech has been challenging but she can still sing.”
A couple of celebrities including Tembisa Mdoda and Hulisani Ravele expressed their excitement over seeing Lira doing what she does best.
In her first post after suffering a stroke, Lira thanked everyone for their overwhelming love, support, and prayers.
I am recovering well. Physically I have been unaffected, I am strong and healthy. The stroke has unfortunately affected my speech, however, I am making lots of progress every day.
I will be taking some time to focus on my recovery. Please keep your prayers coming, I can’t wait to be back soon. All my love.
