Advocate Teffo Malesela has fails bid to dismiss or postpone an application by the Legal Practice Council (LPC) to have him barred from practicing law.
The controversial advocate who is representing 4 of the 5 men accused of killing Senzo Meyiwa, faces 22 complaints of malpractice.
As a result, the LPC wants Teffo struck off the roll, which would mean the advocate will no longer be able to practice law.
Teffo’s career hangs in the balance as he faces charges of fraud, assault, misappropriation of funds, and intimidation.
The LPC wants to hold Adv. Teffo accountable for misconduct dating back to 2021, when he was charged for assaulting a female police officer in Parktown.
While Teffo made submissions that he was unaware of the charges against him, the court dismissed his claims, saying he had a year to find legal representation.
Adv. Teffo claims the LPC has a vendetta against him, accusing the council of colluding with police.
“All these allegations are directed to me as a practice advocate who was just doing his job. Paying due diligence to the client, out of 20 cases of SAPS, I won 19 of them. to me. These allegations are frivolous.”
