Over the weekend, English football club, Manchester United confirmed the appointment of Benni McCarthy as a first-team coach.
The club’s manager Erik ten Hag, made the announcement on Saturday, 30 July 2022.
Benni McCarthy will specialise in coaching the first team on attacking plays and positioning.
Speaking at Old Trafford on Sunday during United’s game vs Rayo Vallecano, Benni said it’s “a privilege” to work at a club like Manchester United.
He believes Erik ten Hag has brought a change in mentality.
Everyone and the mentality around the club is really different. The manager brought that and it’s been missing over the last few seasons. And hopefully this season we are going to see a completely revived United.
And the hunger from the players. A team that’s going to challenge and compete in the Champions League. And hopefully change the dynamics of the set piece.

Explaining McCarthy’s appointment on MUTV, ten Hag says there was still a place in his coaching staff.
“There was still one place in our coaching staff that I wanted to fill,” he told MUTV. “Someone with a different voice and Benni is that one.
“He has experience as a manager. He was a coach in the professional level and he was a former striker, a really successful striker as well.”
