Miss South Africa, Lalela Mswane raised the national flag high when she participated in the Miss Supranational competition on Friday.
At the international pageant, she was named Miss Supranational, with Miss Thailand receiving the first runner-up.
The 24-year-old was chosen as Miss Supranational 2022 after distinguishing herself among the competitors from 69 nations.
Mswane made history by becoming the first black woman and South African to win Miss Supranational.
The pageant made her the first Miss South Africa to place top 3 at 2 international pageants.

After the competition, Mswane stated: “I am overwhelmed; at the moment it still feels surreal. I am deeply thankful to all the amazing people who have supported and uplifted me.
“I couldn’t have done it without them. I want to thank the organisers of Miss Supranational, the Polish people, all my fellow contestants, the Miss South Africa Organisation and my South African fans.
“This title is not mine alone, it is South Africa’s victory.”

Her national costume attire, which honours her Zulu background, won the judges over.
It was created by Cape Town-based Lloyd Kandlin, who also created Zozibini Tunzi’s outfit for Miss South Africa 2019 and later for Miss Universe.
