Award-winning actor and producer Mandla N joins 959 Breakfast Breakfast with Dineo Ranaka and Sol Phenduka to honor the memory and legacy of Bucy Lurayi.
Mandla and Busi studied together at AFDA.
“She was my junior and when I was 19 we got a show called City Ses’la. She was my onscreen wife for over 15 years,” Mandla tells 959 Breakfast.
The two started their careers in television together. “I’ve seen her highs and her lows. What a genius. She was really passionate about what she did”
Mandla says the late actress was really passionate about her work. “She would call you out on set if you didn’t know your lines.”
He continues: “It is just sad to see that we are losing geniuses too soon.
“When I got the call yesterday it was really difficult. I didn’t know what to do. I called my producer Zikhona who told me that the news was real.”
The Black Brain founder says “what is left now is to celebrate her life. For me, she really gave her all in this business.”
He adds that Busi Lurayi was a perfectionist and knew how to approach and tackle every scene.”
