Nota Baloyi who spent the past few days trending for all the wrong reasons, has spoken out over the backlash he’s received.
After his distasteful comments about Mihlali, his estranged wife, Berita said Nota is extremely irresponsible, reckless and unruly. It is for this reason that she left their marital home in January and are currently separated.
Berita’s revelations led many people to weigh in on Nota objectifying Mihlali and publicly shaming her for expecting a girlfriend allowance.
Following the public criticism Nota wanted to set the record straight on his marriage and claims his comments on Mihlali were misinterpreted.
“For the record I love my wife, we’ll pray through this. All couples have challenges but communication is key. I have not been able to communicate with her.
They say a man will embarrass you, a woman will humiliate you. There’s a difference in how a man responds to humiliation as opposed to how a woman responds to embarrassment. That tells you everything you need to know about dignity. No matter what happens between you, keep it tidy.”

Until I do I will continue to pray for her peace & wellbeing. As for my mental health, I will never let anyone trivialise it! https://t.co/5jvTwNbY9L

As for his comments regarding Mihlali, the music executive said in an interview that his words were taken out of context.
“I have nothing to say against Mihlali. I have no personal issues against Mihlali, my statement were taken out of context. What I was speaking about was in the context of objectification of women in SA and how it can have deadly consequences.
“The last thing I would want to read in the headline is that someone has taken Mihlali’s life because she said she has a R30,000 a month girlfriend allowance.”
His exact words were, “It’s like buying a dog, you can put it down.”
