Fans rallied behind South African artist Samthing Soweto after he opened up about his depression on social media.
Apologising for being silent in recent weeks, the singer said it because he was dealing with major self-doubt.
“I’m sorry for the silences. I thought I was whack, but today I only discovered how dope I am. #depression.”

The prolific amapiano vocalist made a return to social media in February teasing a new album.
While the response around news of fresh music from Samkelo Lelethu Mdolomba was positive, the Isphithiphithi hitmaker was struggling with depression.
Going through periods where he was left feeling despondent, the 34-year old artist raised concerns when images of him looking frail were shared.
Reassuring fans that he is okay but that he was going through some “personal stuff”, Samthing Soweto shared it was his job and everyday activities that caused him to lose weight.
Since sharing that he was depressed, fans showed Sam some love on social media on Saturday, 18 June.
Even Black Coffee reached out to the artist who is referred to as the pioneer of male vocalists in the amapiano genre.

Let's pray for Samkelo, we will protect our artists. #depression will not win this time. #somethingsoweto pic.twitter.com/DBJ4oqVyp8
