There are varying reports, with one suggesting the 6 children who were killed were walking home when they were run over by the truck.
It has been reported that the truck hit a total of 24 people as it veered off the road and down an embankment.
The bakkie was according to reports stationery at the time the truck collided into it.
Eighteen others were injured in the collision and the children are between the ages of 14 and 18-years old.
