Close to 10 000 new Covid-19 cases were reported yesterday and this has raised concerns among South Africans about a possible fifth wave.
Skhumba says he’s “worried if the numbers are increasing by 50% from Wednesday”, what will the numbers be by the end of this week?
In light of this, Thomas And Skhumba listeners were asked “if they think we are on the brink of a fifth wave or maybe it’s too soon to be panicking?”
A listener shares: “The country is not ready for another lockdown. however, we cannot ignore the numbers. We are on the brink of a fifth wave guys and as a person who got Covid four times, I’m not ready guys. Can people be careful, wear masks and take precautionary measures. Please, guys,” she pleads.
Another listener believes we’re about to enter the fifth wave but we should only start panicking once we get to 20 000 cases a day. “If the hospitalisation and deaths are low then we should not be scared. We just need to wear our masks, sanitize, and social distance and we’ll be fine,” she says.
Check out some of the reactions on social media:
For sometime I stopped moving around with a sanitizer. Last week I bought sanitizer and eJozi manje mangehla etaxini I’m getting 5 masks for R5. I’ve never had it and I’m not ready. I lost my job due to lockdown. Guys take care of yourselves and stay safe.
