“Have you ever worked with any of your relatives? If yes, how involved were you in helping them land the job?” This is the question posed to Thomas And Skhumba In The Morning listeners.
“I almost worked with a family member. The closest was in the same building. It was Kuli Roberts here at Kaya. There was no influence, I only came in years later,” shares Thomas.
Skhumba says he’s never worked with a family member in the same organization. “I work with my brothers in Big Banger Comedy but I wouldn’t call that a job. But I know people that have been plugged in,” he says.
Reactions from Kaya 959’s listeners:
Jabu plugged her sister after she completed her matric. “She was looking for a job for a long time and there was an opportunity in the company I worked for in HR.”
Anonymous reveals she got her job through her cousin. “I got a job through my cousin because jobs are now being sold and some of us don’t have money. Because we don’t have money and we are educated, we had to take whatever was available.
“My cousin helped me get my job but I believe that I am overqualified for this job and I need something to sustain me. I went through all the protocols,” anonymous shares.
What are people saying on social media:
I work in a company where my dad is a director but when he got me in he made sure I started at the bottom. I started washing trucks, 3 years later I am a hydraulic technician.
