Getting stopped at a roadblock by metro officers is often associated with panic for many South African drivers. The immediate response for most is that they are about to receive a ticket for speeding or another traffic infringement.
Metro officers usually get bad rap from motorists for enforcing the law, being rude to drivers and unforgiving but sometimes surprise us with their fun side.
As was the case when a group of officers sang a driver Happy Birthday at a roadblock.
The driver was stopped and handed over his license to the officer who noticed he was celebrating a birthday.
Rallying up his comrades, the officer and gang began singing to the driver who found the entire gesture funny.
Laughing throughout the over-the-top birthday song, the driver shared his special wish from metro officers on social media where it went viral.
Many South Africans found the moment cute and lauded the officers for being courteous to the driver on his special day.
