Over the past 3-years the ANC has reportedly spent an estimated R1.4 billion on food, entertainment and accommodation during lockdown.
New information from the opposition party has come to light where 18 ANC ministers and deputy ministers have been slammed for using taxpayers money to party.
This during the Covid-19 lockdown where most accommodation venues were prohibited from operating.
On Sunday, 24 April, DA MP Leon Schreiber, unpacked the exorbitant expenditure, naming and shaming cabinet ministers who abused budgets once more.
In March, the DA called out cabinet ministers for splurging more than R20 million on luxury cars.
According to the Schreiber, Justice Minister Ronald Lamola was the biggest offender, spending R293 million on catering, entertainment and accommodation.
“To put the total amount wasted on parties, dinners and hotels – over R1.4 billion – into perspective: this amount would have been enough to provide school meals to over 250 000 needy children for the entire duration of their 12-year school career.” Schreiber released in a statement.
