Dudu Myeni has come under fire for allegedly assaulting a Sunday Times photographer at Jacob Zuma’s corruption trial on Monday, 11 April.
Myeni the former SAA board chairperson was spotted at the Pietermaritzburg High Court after the corruption trial of the former president was cancelled.
It was outside the court, in the foyer when she was approached by photographer Sandile Ndlovu who tried taking pictures of her.
According to reports Myeni was in conversation with avid Zuma supporter Carl Niehaus, when Ndlovu started taking pictures of her.
In a video taken by Netwerk24’s Melinda Stuurman, Dudu Myeni can be seen trying to get the camera from Ndlovu.
She then grabs hold of his bag in an attempt to stop him from taking further pictures of her.
There is no indication that the publication or the photographer will be pressing charges against Myeni at this stage.
However, the publication has called for Chief Justice Zondo to ensure that journalist were able to work without falling victim to such behaviour.
“The media is entitled to report on events in court buildings, to photograph individuals and their supporters outside court, and to cover proceedings inside the court room with the permission of the presiding officer,” the publication condemned the incident.
Here is another look at the incident surrounding Dudu Myeni and the photo journalsit Sandile Ndlovu. #ZumaCourtCase
