Three weeks to go until the return of South Africa’s biggest cultural event, Cotton Fest!
Founded by late rapper and cultural innovator, Riky Rick, Cotton Fest 2022 will be taking place on the 22nd and 23rd of April 2022.
The initial date for Cotton Fest was postponed after the untimely death of the Boss Zonke rapper, on the 23rd of February 2022.
In a press announcement, released earlier this month, Riky’s wife, Bianca Naidoo confirmed that Riky’s spirit and legacy will be kept alive with the work he has already done.
“We have to continue to keep his spirit and legacy alive. What better way to do this than to continue the work Riky has already started,” Bianca said.
To keep his legacy alive, the highly anticipated event will see performances from over 150 artists.
Taking place at the Old Station in Newtown, Johannesburg the line-up includes performances from the likes of Shane Eagle, Khuli Chana, Pabi Cooper, Shekinah, Heavy K, AKA, Kamo Mphela and Uncle Waffles, just to name a few.
The festival is said to celebrate the legacy of Riky Rick and will include a live skating competition, food court area, fashion and a gaming area for all cotton eaters.
