One suspect has been arrested for the murder of Dr George Koboka who was shot in his Soweto surgery on Friday, 25 March.
CCTV footage shows a group of men entering the Dr’s practice with a room full of patients waiting to be attended to.
The men barge into the Dr’s office and shoot him, whilst patients flee. Dr George Koboka’s murder comes a week after a group of men robbed his surgery and patients.
Dr Koboka, 56, was a member of the SA Medical Association (SAMA) since 1998.
SAMA called his murder senseless, highlighting the violent and brazen attack on the doctor.
Calling for law enforcement to act swiftly to apprehend Dr Koboka’s killers, SAMA said more needs to be done to ensure the safety of both patients and healthcare providers.
“Without this intervention more doctors will feel threatened and seek safer refuge in other countries, while their skills and expertise are in dire need locally.”
Dr George Koboka, was a PAC member and former PASO leader at Medusa campus between 1993 and 1997.
The funeral of Dr George Koboka will take place on Tuesday, 29 March in Diepkloof, Soweto.
