Black Panther director Ryan Coogler was recently a victim of racial profiling at a bank.
The Award-winning director was wrongfully targeted by police while visiting the bank during the filming of the sequel of Black Panther – Wakanda Forever.
Coogler went into the bank to make a massive withdrawal of R 180 000 and opted to write the amount down and gave it to the teller because he was concerned about his safety.
It is here where the bank teller began freaking out and thinking a robbery was in progress and alerting law enforcement.
There is new body camera footage that has surfaced online showing Coogler clearly disturbed with what happened. The incident reportedly happened in January this year.

In the video, he is heard saying he is tired of always feeling scared when he goes inside a bank, he then adds that his method of not shouting how much he was withdrawing was all in an effort to protect himself from would-be criminals.

Coogler spoke to Variety Magazine that he was disappointed with what he refers to as ‘something that should have never happened”
“This situation should never have happened … However, Bank of America worked with me and addressed it to my satisfaction and we have moved on.” said Coogler.
