Award-winning Content Creator and Beauty Guru Mihlali Ndamase reveals her weight loss journey in a newly released YouTube video.
In her video, she delves into her weight loss journey, how it started and how she has maintained and managed to stay consistent and dedicated.
As a relatively “skinny and petite” child, Mihlali has never struggled with wanting to lose weight. Mihlali shares that she actually wanted to gain weight in High-School because of how insecure she felt being skinny.
“Growing up I was always the extremely petite kid. There was even a point when I was underweight.
“I never struggled with my weight growing up; I actually really wanted to gain weight in High-School because I was insecure about how skinny I was at some point”
In 2018 at 21-years-old Mihlali notes that this was when she started gaining weight.
“ I started gaining weight in 2018 at 21 years old. I was going through a lot. I lost my dad. I was going through a terrible break-up. I was just a mess. I was going out more. I was drinking a lot more, and I gained weight, honey!”
Despite the weight gain, Mihlali explains that she was still very content and comfortable with her body. “When I started gaining weight I was very much content with who I was, my confidence level was pretty high!”
Mihlali continues to share how she was aware of the changes her body was going through, but that did not cause her to hate her body.
“I was aware my body was changing, however, I didn’t hate my body”
She did, however, hate the inconveniences of now having to figure out the correct sizes in clothing stores or when garments sourced by stylists did not fit; noticing and hating the small things about her body like cellulite; not to mention how people, especially on social media often had an opinion about her body and the weight she had gained.
In addition to discussing her weight-loss journey and diet plans, Mihlali also discusses the importance of self-love and self-awareness. Noting that having a positive mindset and attitude is vital and necessary to succeed and accomplish the goals you have set for yourself.
