A third actor has resigned from the South African drama series, Imbewu: The Seed, due to salary disputes.
Nkanyiso Mchunu, who played Nkululeko Bhengu has been replaced by Kay Sibiya.
Mchunu’s departure comes just 2 months after fellow cast members, Muzi Mthabela and Phindile Gwala-Ngadu also quit.
Sparking internal issues with the production house Grapevine Productions.
Spokesperson for the show, Thapelo Ramatsui confirmed the actor’s decision to leave the show.
“He’s no longer part of the show. He disagreed with production. We’re not yet equipped with the full details of what happened, but we’ll communicate as soon as we are,” said Ramatsui.
Actor Kay Sibiya, who is popular for his role as Ayanda in Uzalo was the next best fit. Kay is currently starring in The Wife, playing the role of Sandile in the Hlomu series.
The Durban-based show is created by Duma Ndlovu, with executive producers Anant Singh and Leleti Khumalo.
Debuting in 2018, Imbewu: The Seed has won a South African Film and Television Award in 2020 for Most Popular TV soap.
