A horrific collision on the N1 in Limpopo on Tuesday night has claimed the lives of 17 people.
Eight other people survived, 6 sustained serious injuries and 2 escaped with minor injuries.
The head-on collision involved a 22-seater bus and a Toyota SUV. According to traffic authorities in Limpopo, the driver of the Toyota lost control of his vehicle due to a burst tyre.
The Toyota collided into the 22-seater bus which burst into flames.

Sixteen passengers, including the bus driver were trapped inside the burning vehicle. All occupants of the bus unfortunately burnt to death.
The driver of the Toyota died on impact.
The collision took place near the Mookgophong off-ramp on the N1.
Limpopo Transport and Community Safety spokesperson Mike Maringa said the department is concerned by the number of fatal road accidents on the N1.
Over the festive season, another tragic accident occured killing 5 people.
