World No.1 tennis player Novak Djokovic will know on Monday if he has permission to play in the Australian Open.
The controversial anti-vaxxer argued that he has a vaccine exemption to enter Australia. He is currently being held in isolation at an immigration hotel in Melbourne.
The Serbian tennis star is awaiting the outcome of his appeal against the Australian Border Force (ABF) over his entry visa and possible deportation.
Djokovic obtained the vaccine exemption in order to enter the country based on medical reasons. However, Australians were outraged when he could not elaborate on the reasons behind the medical exemption.
Shortly before his arrival in Melbourne, Djokovic posted on social media that he is looking forward to the Australian Open, having obtained the exemption.
The 34-year old currently holds 20 Grand Slam titles. According to reports Novak Djokovic is free to leave Australia if he chooses to.
His family claims he’s being held “captive” in the country like a criminal.
Pending the decision by the ABF he may lose the opportunity to defend his current title.
