The government will host a state memorial service for the last apartheid president, FW de Klerk, at the weekend in Cape Town.

According to a statement released by the government the service will take place at the Groote Kerk at 10:30.
The attendance will be limited due to COVID-19 regulations and only accredited media personnel will have access to the venue.
De Klerk’s funeral happened last month and his foundation described it as a “private ceremony for family members”.
He died at the age of 85 on Thursday, November 11 at his home in Fresnaye, Cape Town after a battle with cancer.
He came to power in 1989 under apartheid, however, later became a key figure in the transition to democracy.
