Shipping delays, huge demand and a glass shortage are all reasons the supply of Savanna Cider in South Africa has run dry.
Speaking to Gugulethu Mfuphi on Kaya Biz, marketing manager for Savanna, Eugene Lenford said they are working on the issue.
He hopes the shortage will be resolved in time for the festive season.
“The love and support that South Africans have for Savanna created pressure on demand and supply. We understand the shortage has frustrated many of our consumers and we hope to have the matter resolved by December,” he shared with Gugulethu.
The news comes after several social media users were up in arms when they couldn’t find their favourite cider on shelves.

As Eugene explained, sales for Savanna Cider shot up last year after viral trends with the drink boosted purchases. TikTok videos with users balancing the cider bottles on their heads, face, neck and back meant more South Africans were popping bottles of the cider.
